One of the biggest excuses (yeah, I said it - excuses) that I hear about not practicing yoga is...no time. I get it! We're all running around all day with a million things to do and staying tethered to our phones doesn't help. But that's no reason not to MAKE time for yourself.
I'll preface by saying that its optimal to connect to yourself during a yoga practice, as that is literally the goal of yoga - to yoke or union. However, some days we take what we can get, right? Realistic ways to incorporate yoga into things you already do is one of my specialties that I work through with my private clients. You might be surprised to find out that you can fit different yogic techniques into the time you spend making your smoothie, brushing your teeth, or when the baby is napping.
For this post, we'll talk about adding poses (asanas) into your TV time to address the ever popular "tight hip" issue. Its totally warranted too. Think about how long you spend sitting - in front of a computer, in the car, eating, etc. - compared to the time you spend standing. Those actions create tightness in the hip region and can be countered with yoga. These three yoga poses will help stretch some hip flexor muscles and glutes without cutting into quality time with your favorite show. So hit play and let's get started!
How do you feel? Did these poses work for you? What show did you watch while you practiced? I'd love to hear from you!
*Contraindications: Consult your physician and/or private yoga instructor before practicing these poses if you have a knee, hip, and/or low back injury or issue.
